Spring Break Destinations

Preview of Archerboy’s blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Cancun, Mexico Entry Title: “Cancun – Sun, sea, couchsurfing and nightlife” Entry: “Aaaah Cancun. One of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico and especially famous for Spring Break. I approached Cancun with a lot of expectations. Overall it was a fairly mixed experience and in retrospect after visiting some other places along the coast was probably my least favourite. It’s very tricky to have an unbiased view though since I really started off on the wrong foot.

The biggest thing is that for the previous 2.5 months I had been staying in Pittsburgh with Sara and traveling around the North East areas of the US. So suddenly continuing on with my journey solo was always going to be a bit lonely to start with. Unfortunately I had my worst couch surfing experience yet. My host initially seemed nice, I got a key straight away which gave me freedom to come and go as I liked. However it was quickly apparent that she had no interest in really getting to know me, in me meeting any of her friends, or in doing anything at all with me. She was busy during the days with studies, which is fair enough. But at nights she would just head out and I’d have no idea when she’d be back, so I’d just have to do my own thing. Which usually I’m fine with. If I was in a hostel I would meet plenty of people .

These signs greet all visitors as they first enter Torola. The red sign used to have the dates 2006 to 2009, but since the election two Sundays ago, it has been changed to read 2009 to 2012. The full sign reads, “FMLN [the party name, Farabundi Marti National Liberation Front] Torola, Territory free and red, Hector [the mayor's name] 2009 to 2012, Funes [the party's presidential candidate].”

The white sign details the sources of funding (the Irish Cooperation and the Catholic Church) for the health clinic in town which does periodic testing for diabetes and STDs. The blue sign shows the way to the Araute river and the hot springs, two of Torola’s tourist destinations. I haven’t been to the hot springs yet, but I’ll be paying a visit the week before Easter break with my students from El Progreso.

Latin Angels Special / Casting Reel
Video Rating: 5 / 5

You will love this beautiful, directly oceanfront unit on Maui’s picturesque south shore. From every angle of this condominium you will be awed by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, with swaying palms in the foreground and the West Maui mountains as a backdrop. The condominium features a very effective air conditioning system (many Kihei condos do not)for your comfort. Go for a sunset stroll on the beach, watch the whales from the lanai, wander down to the local shops and restaurants of Kihei, take a refreshing dip in the pool or the warm Pacific ocean, fish on the beach, or sit in the hot tub and gaze at the stars. Kihei is a wonderful vacation destination on Maui as it boasts very sunny, dry weather, and avoids the frequent rains of the Northern, Western and Eastern parts of the island. Our building is ideal for a quiet, relaxing getaway, a family vacation, or as an action-packed home base from which to enjoy the wealth of attractions and activities that this gorgeous island has to offer. SOFA BED FOR SLEEPING FOR UP TO 2 EXTRA GUESTS: The unit is officially listed as having accommodations for 2, but we can have a sofa bed which can sleep an additional 2 people. If you have more than 2 guests in your party, there will be a one time charge. This covers the costs of having the extra linens put in the unit and the extra cleaning and laundry expenses. There is no extra per night charge for the extra guests. NEWLY RENOVATED and TASTEFULLY DECORATED: We are pleased to offer

10 Tips for Spring Break by CheapOair

by admin on October 22, 2011

1.  Check for Student Travel Discounts and Student Travel Coupons: Many travel companies and websites concentrate specifically on student travel and have various offers and deals for students. Even travel websites that don’t focus solely on student travel have great student travel deals. Make sure you do a thorough internet search for travel companies that offer cheaper airline and train tickets for students. Look out for student travel coupons and discounts on travel packages.

2. Book Student Travel Early: “The early bird catches the worm” stands true for saving money while booking your spring break. Spring Breaks are considered peak travel times and therefore bargain hotel and airfare prices are harder to find at the last minute. If you wait until the last minute, there will be limited availability and super high prices, so to get the best deal at reasonable prices, book early.

3. Consider Student Travel Packages: Ever heard of an all inclusive package? Choosing one might not be such a bad idea. All inclusive travel packages include airfare, hotel, food and additional activities at bargain prices. When it comes to spring break, this might be an ideal choice. The initial pricing of the package might appear to cost more, but when you analyze the overall expenses, you might end up saving a good amount of money.

]]>

These days travel companies often offer package deals that include travel, accommodations, meals and sometimes entrance at nightclubs. You can also investigate package deals that include tours of the area you are visiting and daytime recreation.

4. Staying in a Hostel Versus a Hotel Room: One of the best ways to save cash is to stay at hostels, rather than hotels. Hostels normally allow you to rent a shared room, as well as share common areas, kitchen and bathrooms. Hostels are considerably cheaper than staying in hotels and give you an opportunity to meet other travelers. In the event the hostel you want to stay at is unavailable, you can always book a hotel room and check the maximum occupancy to find out if you can share the room with your other spring break buddies.

5. Alternative Ideas for Spring Break Travelers: Taking a backpacking trip or a cruise might be a great, affordable way to go. In case you do not want spend your time visiting popular tourist destinations and prefer to hit local nightclubs and explore the destination you’re visiting. Other spring break ideas include volunteer work, eco-tourism, or green travel. Not only will you get to know the locals, you’ll participate in creating a better environment.

6. Consider a Road Trip: Though gas prices may be at an all time high, when you have some likeminded spring break buddies to share the ride and expenses with, a road trip is bound to be more fun and it’s a great money saving option.

7. Be Flexible: Being flexible with your travel plans is a great way to save money. Traveling during weekends can cost a bit more. Instead of rushing through your itinerary, carefully select the dates and days for your travel. This will save you some money on your travel, so you can spend it on spring break.

8. Bring your own food: Normally we don’t consider the added expense of food while travelling, but more often than not it can put a huge dent in your budget. Eating out is costly. Bring snacks and other food to eat, so that you don’t have to pay to eat out. And, or opt for hotels that have refrigerators in the room, this way you can buy some groceries when you get into town. Note: If you’re traveling abroad, bringing food is probably not an option that will be available to you.

9. Using Public Transportation: Using public transportation, like buses, rails, subways, etc., is not only a great way to save money, but also the most convenient way to explore a destination. Public transport also offers an opportunity to learn more about the destination you’re visiting.

10. Limit Alcohol Consumption: There are many reasons to avoid alcohol consumption and excessive drinking, not only is it expensive, it’s not terribly safe. If you’re going to drink, limit the amount of drinks you buy in clubs or on the beach, as these drinks will be particularly expensive.

As the semester, quarter, or trimester approaches, it’s time to explore the world. With our spring break travel tips, not only is travelling within your budget, but would be great fun.
